Bottom of the Machine (gray yarn):
- 14 ch (14) Next, we knit from the second loop from the hook along the chain: 12 sc, 3 sc in 1 loop, knit further in the circle (on the back side of the chain) 11 sc, inc. Mark the beginning of the row.
- 1 sc, (knit in one loop, make a rectangle corner: 1 sc, 1 sc, 1 sc), 10 sc, (in one loop: 1 sc, 1 sc, 1 sc), 1 sc, (in one loop: 1 sc, 1 sc, 1 sc), 11 sc, (in one loop: 1 sc, 1 sc, 1 sc), 1 sc (36)
- 2 sc, (knit in one loop: 1 sc, 1 sc, 1 sc), 12 sc, (in one loop: 1 sc, 1 sc, 1 sc), 3 sc, (in one loop: 1 sc, 1 sc, 1 sc), 13 sc, (in one loop: 1 sc, 1 sc, 1 sc), 2 sc (44)
- 3 sc, (knit in one loop: 1 sc, 1 sc, 1 sc), 14 sc, (in one loop: 1 sc, 1 sc, 1 sc), 2 sc, inc, 2 sc, (in one loop: 1 sc, 1 sc, 1 sc), 15 sc, (in one loop: 1 sc, 1 sc, 1 sc), 3 sc (53)
- 53 sc behind the back wall of the loop (53)
- 53 sc (53)
Where we have the beginning of the row, we will knit the trunk. We do not cut the thread but continue to knit. We will knit the trunk, hood, and sides (side parts) of the car in rotating rows.
Trunk (gray yarn):
- From the beginning of the row, knit 5 sc, make a ch (lifting loop). Unfold the knitting and knit in the opposite direction: 10 sc, pr, turn (10)
- 10 sc, pr, turn (5 rows) (10)
- Leave the thread longer; it will be needed to connect (sew) the trunk and the side of the car together. Next, we will knit the side of the machine. We knit a machine from the trunk clockwise: i.e., trunk first, then one side, hood, second side.
First Side of the Machine (gray yarn):
- Directly from the trunk, cast on 16 sc, pr, turn (16)
- 16 sc, pr, turn (16)
- 16 sc, knit the last loop with blue yarn, change the thread, pr (16)
- Also make with blue yarn, turn, and then knit with blue yarn Leave a tail of gray yarn for sewing on the details
- 16 sc, pr, turn (16)
- 16 sc (16) Close, cut the thread, and hide. Next, we knit the hood of the car.
Hood (gray yarn):
- We dial immediately from the side 11 sc (11)
- 2-11. 11 sc, pr, turn (10 rows) (11)
- Cut the thread and leave it for sewing.
Second Side of the Machine (gray yarn):
- Directly from the trunk, cast on 16 sc, pr, turn (16)
- 16 sc, pr, turn (16)
- 16 sc, knit the last loop with blue yarn, change the thread, pr (16)
- Also make with blue yarn, turn, and then knit with blue yarn. Leave a tail of gray yarn for sewing on the details.
- 16 sc, pr, turn (16)
- 16 sc (16) Close, cut the thread and hide.
We return to the 6th row, where we knitted loops behind the back wall and tied 53 sc loops in a circle around the front wall. We cut the thread and hide it.
Next, we sew the sides with the trunk and hood. Turn it inside out and sew. The trunk extends from above onto the sides using 2 hinges, i.e., position its edge so that it overlaps 2 side loops. We sew the hood to the sides, grabbing 6 loops on top of the sides.
As a result, we will have 8 loops left on the sides (2 loops are sewn on the trunk side, 6 loops on the hood side). There are 10 loops on the trunk, and 11 sc on the hood.
Car Body (windows) (gray yarn):
- Take gray yarn and start knitting from the last loop on the trunk (at the back of the machine). 1 sc on the trunk, 8 sc on the side, on the hood knit 11 sc behind the front wall of the loop, 8 sc on the side, 9 sc on the trunk, mark the beginning of the row. (37)
- 37 sc (37)
Next, we will make windows, alternating white and gray yarn.
Here there will be a moment with a change of yarn, from gray to white and back. When changing to white yarn: when knitting the last sc with gray yarn, do not knit it to the end, leave two loops on the hook, grab the white thread and finish the sc (crochet the white thread through two loops of the gray thread). This way, we change the color.
Next, knit a part with white yarn (window), and when changing to gray, do it differently: with white yarn, knit the last sc completely and the next sc, grab the gray yarn, and knit further the partition between the windows. Pull the last and first loops of white yarn a little tighter so they do not glow too much when knitting. So, we will change the color of the yarn constantly throughout the knitting. Don’t forget this moment when changing yarn. Until the end of knitting the windows, do not cut the threads, but knit two at the same time.
Roof (gray yarn):
- Knit loops behind the back wall: 1 sc, (4 sc, dec) x 6 (31)
- Fill the machine with filler (under the hood and a little body)
- (3 sc, dec) x 6, 1 sc (25)
- 1 sc, (2 sc, dec) x 6 (19)
- 1 sc, (1 sc, dec) x 6 (13)
- Fill the machine more tightly (to the end) with filler. Close the knitting, tighten the hole, hide the thread.
Wheels (4 pcs) (black yarn):
- 6 in KA (6)
- 6 inc (12)
- (1 sc, inc) x 6 (18)
- 18 sc behind the back wall of the loop (18)
- (1 sc, dec) x 6 (12)
- 6 dec (6) Pull the thread to the front side into the center of the ring of 6 sc and return it back. Thus, slightly tighten the wheel so that it is flat. Leave the tail for sewing to the machine. Knit the other three wheels the same way.
Headlights (2 parts) (yellow yarn):
- 6 in KA (6)
Flasher (blue, gray, and red yarn):
- Knit with blue yarn: 6 sc in KA (6)
- 6 inc (12)
- 12 sc behind the back wall of the loop (12)
- 4-5. 12 sc (2 rows) (12)
- Gray yarn: 6-7. 12 sc (2 rows) (12)
- Red yarn: 8-10. 12 sc (3 rows) (12) Fill the flasher with filler, not tightly.
- 6 dec for the back wall of the loop (6) Close the knitting, tighten the hole, hide the thread inside the flasher. Straighten the flasher so that it is flat on both sides.
Assembly and Design of the Machine:
- Sew wheels and headlights to the car.
- Embroider the windows with a thin black thread (along the edges of the windows), and also make a strip of thread in the place where the machine has a door.
- Sew a flasher onto the roof.
Thank you very much for knitting a toy according to my master class. Your knitting machine is ready.
